NCR 5870

NCR 5870 is the most modern compact lobby 5th generation (PersonaS) ATM. It has traditional NCR vacuum dispenser and two thermal printers. There is typically color monitor and BAPE/HIBAPE encryptor with DES algorithm, or, sometimes EKC/EKCSM encryptor. This ATM can be upgraded with a EPP encryptor required to support Triple DES and other modern algorithms (most recently manufactured ATMs has EPP preinstalled). This ATM can be also upgraded with a EMV 3.1.1 compliant smart card reader (also preinstalled on most recently manufactured ATMs). There is not much difference between 5870 and its predecessor 5670, with exception of external design and computing power.

Technical Details

The ATM is controlled by a PC based on Pentium or Pentium II/III processors. Depending on configuration, it may run OS/2 Warp 3 with NDC+ v.6, OS/2 Warp 4 with NDC+ v.7 or Windows NT with AANDC.

Severe Climate Upgrade Kit

ATMs may be installed in areas with severe climate conditions, provided they have:
(1) suitable heating devices that keep the dispenser mechanism at all times at +5°C and
(2) special devices that blow warm air on to the ATMs Facia from inside to prevent condensation

ATMs not equipped with such devices originally from the ATM's manufacturer will cause permanent problems if installed in areas w/ severe climate (like Canada, Scandinavia, Russia, Sibiria etc.)

CR&SO's Severe Climate Upgrade Kit is an independent tool, powered seperately w/ 220V, that provides the necessary protection and heating for ATMs in areas w/ severe climate. Two special sensors control the temperature and the ventilation inside the ATM to asure proper operation in areas w/ severe climate

4G Pentium Upgrade Kit fits all NCR 56xx ATMs built around TCM or HI3 PC Cores. The Kit does not fit newer LPX nor NLX PC Cores (these more often seen on PersonaS 5th Generation ATMs). Please contact CR&SO if you are unsure about type of your PC Core.

For 5670 Compact ATM an ISA Riser Card is also required (may be supplied on request).

For installation of the optional CD-ROM Drive some metalwork may be required, depending on your ATM model. Please contact CR&SO for further details.

If you plan to run S4i (OS/2 based) software on the upgraded ATM, please make sure you're using S4i 05.02.xx or later. This is required to support Intel 815 VGA.
